Hello!
Thank you so much for allowing us to share with you a few things about our lives and why adoption is the right choice for us.  It has always been our desire to have a family and provide our children with an enjoyable and fulfilling life.  We can’t imagine the hardship you are facing at this time, but we applaud and praise your courage and bravery.  We know that you only want the best opportunities and life for your child, and we greatly admire you for that.

Our beginnings
Our story began back in middle school as students.  We knew of each other, but didn’t become best friends until our freshman year of high school in health class.  Two years later in our junior year our relationship flourished into more than a friendship.  Eric asked Holley out on the night of our school’s rival football game in October 1999.  We became a popular couple amongst our classmates, and even the teachers knew of our relationship.  We truly were high school sweethearts, which lead to our senior nomination for the “Best Couple Award.”  After Holley’s 4 years of college and Eric’s 4 years of working as a telecommunications specialist, in addition to his schooling for HVAC technician, we married on July 28, 2007. It’s hard to believe that 11 years has passed since we started dating, but we must say that our love for each other has deepened more than ever, and we are proud of what we have accomplished and who we have become.  We are ready to begin our next journey as parents, and we are excited to share our unconditional love with a child.

Why adopt
We always knew adoption was the way we would add a child to our family.  We would talk endlessly about having both adoptive and biological children.  But after discovering that having biological children would not be an option for us, we decided to continue our family plan and begin the adoption process right away.  One of our nieces, Julie, was adopted by Eric’s brother and his wife.  Therefore, we have already experienced what adoption means to us, and it’s been a great blessing to our whole family.  We look forward to embracing our precious arrival with open arms and open hearts.

Holley
I am a 4th grade teacher in the public school system.  I truly love being around children and educating them in a fun and gratifying way.  I enjoy seeing the smiles on their faces when they learn something new.  I get such a feeling of satisfaction knowing that I made an impression on their lives.  I am furthering my studies and pursuing a master’s degree in English Second Language.  This will enable me to teach individuals whose first language is other than English.

I love spending time with my husband, family, and friends.  I try to come up with several reasons for gathering our family and friends together, whether it’s inviting them over to celebrate our dog’s birthday or just having game nights.  During my free time, I also enjoy exercising and keeping active by bike riding, running, and taking Zumba aerobics classes.  I get a great pleasure out of reading books, and watching classic movies such as Gone with the Wind.

Eric:  One of the things I love the most about Holley is her love for and devotion to family.  She is always helping her family and friends when they are in need.  I knew my wife was going to be a wonderful teacher because of how fun and nurturing she is with children.  Teaching is not an easy job, but Holley has the patience and she really enjoys it.  She is a fun and energetic person.  She always has a smile on her face and she loves to laugh.  We are so compatible because we really enjoy doing the same things together, like fishing and camping.  Holley is a genuine and loving person, and I know she will be the greatest mom!

Eric
After high school, I worked full time and went to school and received my certification in HVAC.  I felt it was important for me to work full-time in order to financially support me and Holley while she attended college.  After working for 5 years as a telecommunications specialist, I attained a job in my certified field.  I am now in my 5th year as a HVAC Service Technician.

I love being able to spend time with family and friends.  I really enjoy when Holley and I get to do fun things together, such as horse back riding or taking our nieces and nephews on train rides.  I love barbequing in the summer time, and watching our nieces and nephews when their parents want a night out.  I also like to watch funny movies and play video games with my nephews.

Holley:  Eric is my best friend.  I am so proud of whom Eric is and I love walking down the street with him and letting everyone know this is my hardworking and loving husband.  He is so gentle when it comes to children.  I believe one of the reasons why we relate so well to each other is because of our family backgrounds.  We both were taught the importance of family and that family is the number 1 ideal in life that must be cherished.  Eric will be the greatest father a child can hope for because he is already the best husband, son, uncle, and brother to his family.  I look forward to seeing the joy on his face when he gets to share the fun moments of camping, fishing, and gardening with our baby. He will be a wonderful dad!

Our home & pets
We live in a peaceful suburban area in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  Holley’s brother lives directly across the street with his wife and two young sons.  There are also many children on our block who enjoy playing outdoors.  We have a large yard with a beautiful deck.  We spend most of our summers sitting out on the deck and barbequing with Holley’s brother and his family.  We enjoy watching our nephews play in the sandbox or soak in the kiddie pool on hot summer days.

We have a nursery which is longing for our child’s arrival.  It is a quiet and cozy room.  We both adore animals and decided on a safari theme for our child’s room; it will be perfect for a little boy or girl.  We plan to decorate it with animal wall stickers and an ottoman to rock our baby to sleep in.  Our nieces and nephews have created drawings for their new cousin-to-be, which we will frame and hang on the walls.

We share our home with our 9 year old American Eskimo dog, Maggie Snowball, and our 7 year old cat, Socks.  Maggie is such a well-loved dog by all who meet her.  She was an energetic puppy, but over the years she has calmed down and enjoys being around people.  She loves when our nieces and nephews are over the house because she has children she can play with.  Socks is such a funny cat.  As long as he as food in his tummy, he is happy.  He knows where his food is kept, and he always opens the cupboard door to help himself.  He and Maggie get along great.  I couldn’t ask for two better pets than Maggie Snowball and Socks.  We all love them dearly.

Fun times
In the spring, we enjoy taking walks outside on beautiful warm days and grilling on the deck.  We love to take mini vacations just to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle that life can sometimes bring.  Every summer, we like taking our nieces and nephews to the annual fishing derbies.  We enjoy the weekend camping getaways with our family and friends every year, and discovering different campsites.  We always have a wonderful time cozying up around the campfire at night and telling stories.

Every autumn, we decorate our house for one of our favorite holidays, Halloween.  We like keeping our young nieces and nephews overnight to watch the Disney movie, “Halloween Town,” while eating popcorn and drinking root beer floats.  On Halloween night, we gather both sides of our families together and let all of the trick or treaters in.  We sit around talking and laughing over a nice warm bowl of homemade Ham and Cabbage.

The first weekend of December, we pack all of our nieces and nephews in the truck and head to the tree farm to pick out the biggest Christmas tree.  We drink hot cocoa and the kids get to meet Santa’s reindeer.  When we return home, we all decorate the tree, construct paper ornaments, and string popcorn for the garland.  We also invite our family to come bake holiday cookies and build gingerbread houses as we listen to our Christmas music.  We are very excited to share our love of the seasons with our child and look forward to creating many more family memories with our little joy.

Our families
Eric and I both come from large families and to us our families mean the world.  Eric’s family consists of his mom and dad, his two older brothers, their wives, and children.  Holley grew up in a loving home as well, surrounded by her mother, two older sisters, and younger brother.  Holley’s father passed away when she was only eight but she was still very close with her dad.  Even though it’s been 20 years since her father’s passing, the family still celebrates his life everyday.

Every winter, we visit Holley’s family at her aunt’s house in the country to go sleigh riding with all of our relatives.  Whenever a birthday approaches in Eric’s family, his mother gathers all of the family to her house to celebrate with coffee, cake, and ice cream.  The holidays are always fun and heartwarming because we get to spend them with both sides of our families.

All of our friends and family are thrilled about our adoption plans.  Our nieces and nephews are all excited about the arrival of a new cousin, and our parents are eager to have another grandchild to love.  Our moms are both looking forward to sharing in caring for our child when we are at work.  We love the fact that our child will have their grandmothers’ love and pampering, and have those memories to cherish forever.

Faith & values
We believe all that happens in life happens for a reason.  We have faith and put our trust in God.  Eric was raised Christian and Holley was brought up in the Methodist faith.  We were married in the United Baptist Church.  Although we do not attend church regularly, we know the importance of our faiths and recognize God every minute of our lives.  We also are blessed with all of the wonderful gifts in life that God has granted to us.  We cherish our health, our careers, our beautiful home, our loving pets, but most of all, our family and friends.

We will instill in our child that education is a precious and valuable gift that must not be taken for granted.  Our child will learn to love and respect the good in people, and to not let wonderful opportunities pass them by.

Open adoption
We strongly believe that it is of great importance for our child to know their adoption story.  We will share with our little one from the moment they are placed in our arms what a very special family you are and how much you love and care for them.  He/She will always know of your deep love and ultimate sacrifice in making an adoption plan.  We embrace open adoption, and if you desire, we will share pictures, letters, emails, and phone calls with you to keep you informed of your child’s journey through life.

Thank you!
Thank you again for taking the time to hear our story and
considering us as the parents for your baby.  We would love
to get to know you and learn about what is important to you
for your child’s future.  We admire your courage as you are
faced with this difficult decision.  We know that you will make
the right decision for your baby, even if that decision does
not include us.  You are in our prayers for God’s peace in
your heart.
